The Darkest Revenge (The Elder Stones Saga Book 1) Pdf

ISBN: B07K4X7MX5
Title: The Darkest Revenge (The Elder Stones Saga Book 1) Pdf
Some are born to power. Others must find it within themselves.

Ages ago, powerful beings known only as the Elders left their mark on the world, gifting powerful stones to their followers. Through these stones, some have been gifted by birth with great abilities, while others search for them as a way to access that power. Scattered around the known lands, wars have been fought for them, and won by them.

On the outskirts of the city, living within an ancient stronghold, Haern longs for a life beyond what he knows—and away from the long shadow cast by his father. When an attack on the city renews a decades old battle, Haern volunteers to leave the city and find the one person who can lead their people to victory. His inexperience might kill him, but his instincts might be the reason they succeed.

For Daniel, a member of the ruling family, life in the palace is easy and his path is clear. Eventually, he will rise up to sit on the council and lead the people of the city. An injury to someone he cares for changes everything for him, and he must go to the one person he despises most for help. If he fails, he’ll learn what it means to lose everything he cares about.

Though born to power, Lucy longs for an understanding she can’t find in books. When a horrible attack leaves her forever changed, her quest for understanding leads her to those responsible—and a means of stopping them.

All paths lead toward the Elder Stones, for the one who controls the stones controls power.

Filled with action and adventure, The Darkest Revenge is perfect for fans of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time, Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn, or Jeff Wheeler’s Muirwood.

Great start to a New Series! The Darkest Revenge, the first book in D.k. Holmberg's new The Elder Stones Saga. Great story line, and after reading Book one, I'm interested to see where the story is leading. If it's anything like the author's other series, it will lead to adventures that get intense at times making it a page turner for sure. And I noticed the editing has improved with this new series. D.K. Holmberg has a great imagination and I enjoy his books.Entertaining and we'll written Very entertaining, excellent world creation and the character's seem realistic and nuanced. I plan on reading the next book when it is available and looking into his other work. Ideal for young adult readers but even though I don't fit that group i would say adult readers like myself will be happy as well.Looks like another really good series Congratulations to D.K. Holmberg for this amazing series. It’s hard to stop and take a break. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.

Title: George Washington's Secret Six Pdf The Spy Ring That Saved the American Revolution
Author: Brian Kilmeade
Published Date: 2016-01-11
Page: 320

"This is my kind of history book. Get ready. Here's the action."—BRAD MELTZER, bestselling author of The Fifth Assassin and host of Decoded “A powerful new book...that reads like a modern-day spy thriller." —THE BLAZE “The tale of patriotism and daring."—THE WASHINGTON TIMES “A fascinating read, highlighting some of our nation's unknown heroes."—GENERAL STANLEY MCCHRYSTAL (U.S. Army, retired)Brian Kilmeade cohosts Fox News Channel’s morning show Fox & Friends and hosts the nationally syndicated radio show The Brian Kilmeade Show. The author of two previous books about sports, he lives on Long Island. Don Yaeger has written twenty-three books, including seven New York Times bestsellers. He lives in Tallahassee, Florida.

When George Washington beat a hasty retreat from New York City in August 1776, many thought the American Revolution might soon be over. Instead, Washington rallied—thanks in large part to a little-known, top-secret group called the Culper Spy Ring. He realized that he couldn’t defeat the British with military might, so he recruited a sophisticated and deeply secretive intelligence network to infiltrate New York.

Drawing on extensive research, Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger have offered fascinating portraits of these spies: a reserved Quaker merchant, a tavern keeper, a brash young longshoreman, a curmudgeonly Long Island bachelor, a coffeehouse owner, and a mysterious woman. Long unrecognized, the secret six are finally receiving their due among the pantheon of American heroes.

New favorite! Amazing! This book reads like a thriller, and is even more thrilling because it's not fiction! Not only is it a fantastic way to absorb American history- it's one for all ages! I'm a home schooling mother of three (a twelve year old and two teens) who has just added it to required reading for the year! This is a must read- even for people who love history but hate to read!A fun read First I would like to say that I started reading this book Saturday morning and finished it Sunday night. It was really fun to read. The reason I give it only a three star review is that is not exactly a scholarly work (no footnotes, for example) so I was left with a sense of wondering about the veracity of everything in the book. I imagine there are other books about the Washington spies and this book has made me curious enough to read another account. I have to chuckle at all the 1 star reviews. Virtually all of them protest to the book because of the author, Brian Kilmeade. I did not know the author was a commentator for Fox News until I read those reviews. Impugning a history book simply because of the political views of the author is inane. George Washington's Secret Six is not a book espousing a political agenda of some sort, as these reviewers would have one believe. Another reason for the 3 star is that it was a rather bit over-priced given content. In any event, if you know little about the spy ring, this is as good a place to start as any. They should teach this in schools If you love the AMC TV show TURN: Washington's Spies, you'll love this non-fiction account of the same topic. I know the show was actually created from Alexander Rose's history book "Washington's Spies: The Story of America's First Spy Ring" but they were both on sale on Kindle and I couldn't decide so I just got both and wound up reading this one first. And honestly, I'm not sure how or why the show claims to be based on a non-fiction book when a non-fiction book is factual... so really, it's just based on history, and this is also a non-fictional book about that history.I honestly had no idea just how important espionage was during the Revolutionary War. When I thought of this topic, I thought of what I learned in school: founding fathers, minutemen, Paul Revere, etc. But now I know it's so much more than that, and there was so much more going on in the background. They don't teach this in schools, but they should, maybe kids would pay attention.Never boring or dry, this book really pulls you into the spy ring and let's you get to know each individual involved. At the end, it also explores who female agent 355 might have been. Sometimes, it's so juicy, I can't believe it really happened. It was interesting to compare and contrast it with the show too, which did add some fictional elements and make some changes, but not so much that it draws away from the real history, which makes me love the show even more. This is precisely the kind of history book I would recommend to people who (wrongly) think history is boring, but it's also thrilling for those who already appreciate history. I don't think I've ever blown through non-fiction this fast.

The Female Brain Pdf

ISBN: 0767920104
Title: The Female Brain Pdf
Author: Louann Brizendine
Published Date: 2006
Page: 279

“Finally, a satisfying answer to Freud’s question, ‘What does a woman want?’ Louann Brizendine has done a great favor for every man who wants to understand the puzzling women in his life. A breezy and enlightening guide to women—and a must-read for men.”—Daniel Goleman, author of Social Intelligence“The Female Brain is sassy, witty, reassuring, and great fun. All women—and the men who love them—should read this book.”—Christiane Northrup, M.D., author of The Wisdom of Menopause“Louann Brizendine has been a pioneer in using medical science to empower her women patients. Now she seeks to share her hard-won knowledge with a wider audience. The result is a timely, insightful, readable, and altogether magnificent book.”—Sarah Blaffer Hrdy, author of Mother Nature“An eye-opening account of the biological foundations of human behavior. Destined to become a classic in the field of gender studies.”—Marilyn Yalom, author of A History of the Breast “In a breezy, playful style, Brizendine follows the development of women’s brains from birth through the teen years, to courting, pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing, and on to menopause and beyond.”—Deborah Tannen, Washington PostWhile doing research as a medical student at Yale and then as a resident and faculty member at Harvard, Louann Brizendine discovered that almost all of the clinical data in existence on neurology, psychology, and neurobiology focused exclusively on males. In response to the overwhelming need for information on the female mind, Brizendine established the first clinic in the country to study and treat women's brain function. At the same time, The National Institutes of Health began including female subjects in almost all of its studies for the first time. The result has been an explosion of new data on the female brain in recent years. In" The Female Brain, Dr. Brizendine distills all of this information in a highly accessible way in order to educate women about their unique brain-body-behavior. For instance, why are women more verbal than men? Why do women remember details of fights that men can't remember at all? Why do women tend to form deeper bonds with their female friends than men do with their male counterparts? Dr. Brizendine explores these questions and many others that have stumped the sexes throughout the ages. This revolutionary book combines two decades of Brizendine's own work, real-life stories from her clinical practice, and all of the latest information from the scientific community at large to provide a truly comprehensive look at the way women's minds work.

Since Dr. Brizendine wrote The Female Brain ten years ago, the response has been overwhelming. This New York Times bestseller has been translated into more than thirty languages, has sold nearly a million copies between editions, and has most recently inspired a romantic comedy starring Whitney Cummings and Sofia Vergara. And its profound scientific understanding of the nature and experience of the female brain continues to guide women as they pass through life stages, to help men better understand the girls and women in their lives, and to illuminate the delicate emotional machinery of a love relationship.

Why are women more verbal than men? Why do women remember details of fights that men can’t remember at all? Why do women tend to form deeper bonds with their female friends than men do with their male counterparts? These and other questions have stumped both sexes throughout the ages.

Now, pioneering neuropsychiatrist Louann Brizendine, M.D., brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think, what they value, how they communicate, and who they love. While doing research as a medical student at Yale and then as a resident and faculty member at Harvard, Louann Brizendine discovered that almost all of the clinical data in existence on neurology, psychology, and neurobiology focused exclusively on males. In response to the overwhelming need for information on the female mind, Brizendine established the first clinic in the country to study and treat women’s brain function.

In The Female Brain, Dr. Brizendine distills all her findings and the latest information from the scientific community in a highly accessible book that educates women about their unique brain/body/behavior.

The result: women will come away from this book knowing that they have a lean, mean, communicating machine. Men will develop a serious case of brain envy.

Excellent resource for all women I learned so much about the physiological aspect of the aging process - the entire lifespan - of women. I would recommend this to every woman I know and men too. This book would be especially helpful for women who are headed into menopause/post menopause, to get an idea of what to expect. It also has the most useful information I could find on Peri and Post menopause Everyone who is a woman, married to a woman, works with women, or has a female as a child, should read this book. It also has the most useful information I could find on Peri and Post menopause. We use it in all of our pre- marital classes. Very eye opening and helps all understand the great mystery of why we women are so complex. It tracks development of the brain and the interplay of harmones effect on our thinking, acting, and their physical expression through all the stages of life. AMAZING! I do not know the author, but I can tell you this, Louann is has done a great service to the human population in the compling and mastering the research, and then handing it on to us. She knows her field!Great Insights for both Men and Women I read this book years ago and still remember some of the insights I learned from it. I bought and read the sequel "The Male Brain" and found that book equally informative about people's behaviors. I heard the author interviewed on various NPR programs, including Terry Gross' "Fresh Air" and my local public radio station KQED's program "Forum". This book and its "companion" "The Male Brain" should be delightful reading for parents, their teenage and adult kids and college freshmen, who must navigate life's challenges on their own as newly minted, liberated adults in the fast-moving, evolving environments in colleges (and universities), especially if they live on-campus or away from home (off-campus housing). These books can be used as "self-help" books are budding adults, whether they are young men, young women or young couples. Long-term couples and their parents can benefit hugely from reading this book and its companion.
